Our Story
The journey behind every loaf.
Break Bread wasn't part of a business plan.
It actually started with me mindlessly scrolling through Instagram.
I kept seeing these beautifully decorated sourdough loaves created by home bakers and cottage bakers from around the world. The intricate scoring, the artistry, and the creativity completely captivated me. I wasn't looking to start a bakery—I simply wanted to learn how to make something beautiful with my own hands.
So I bought the flour.
I mixed my first starter.
...and I failed.
Over and over again.
I couldn't even keep my starter alive. I spent countless hours reading, watching videos, asking questions, buying more flour, throwing away failed batches, and starting all over again. There were late nights, early mornings, and plenty of moments when it would've been easier to quit.
But every failure only made me more determined.
What started as curiosity slowly became an obsession with learning. Every loaf taught me something new, and with every bake, I wanted to become better than the last.
When I finally reached the point where I was proud of what I was making, I began giving my bread away to neighbors, friends, and members of my community. I wasn't trying to start a business—I simply wanted honest feedback so I could continue improving.
Something unexpected happened.
People kept coming back.
Not just to tell me they enjoyed the bread, but to ask if they could buy another loaf.
That's when I realized Break Bread had become something much bigger than a creative hobby.
Today, every loaf that leaves my bakery is a reminder of where this journey began—with a stubborn starter that refused to cooperate, bags of flour that ended up in the trash, countless lessons learned, and a passion that grew one loaf at a time.
I'm incredibly grateful that what started as a creative outlet has become a bakery supported by an amazing community. Thank you for being part of this story and allowing me to keep doing what I love.
The rest, as they say, is history.
